Employment – redundancy during maternity leave

Megan was a young mother who had been working for a major supermarket chain. During her maternity leave, she was effectively made redundant as a result of a company restructure.

SWLAC helped Megan write letters to her former employer advancing her rights under the Equality Act 2010 and the Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999.

Following numerous failures by her former employer, in particular the failure to offer her suitable alternative employment after her maternity leave, SWLAC successfully supported the client to enter ACAS negotiations which resulted in a settlement of £8,000.
