Recently retired, Robert qualified as a chartered accountant in 1970, having served articles of clerkship with Derbyshire & Co in Nottingham. Post-qualifying he moved to London and during his career worked within the investment industry both as an analyst and as an asset manager, specialising at different times in the SE Asian, US, and European equity and bond markets. In the latter part of his career he acted as a consultant to both corporate and private clients principally to with regard to strategic planning.
